Thinking outside dog.
Middle cottonwood canyon is a pretty cool hike. It was deserted the whole time we were there, possibly because it was really muddy and there was still a little bit of slushy snow in places. Although the hike is in a canyon it never really gets steep and is a pretty easy hike. Water runs over the trail in some places which makes things more fun and interesting. Very quickly once you start the hike you come to a little log bridge.
Past that there is cool moss to look at on the rocks and lots of places to wade in the river or even swim. At this time of the year with the river flooding a bit when the trail crosses to the other side you have to cross on a makeshift “bridge”. We walked about two miles up, but you can walk all the way to the ridge which is about 5 miles.
Scherzo found a peice of fur which she proceeded to carry around for a good portion of the hike. She also found a baby deer leg and ate it, only to barf it up later that day.
